52 - Calm Seas
<= Previous | Top | =To Be Continued=>
Last time, Hong Kong. This time, the sea.
As far as I know it's not possible to get any FP with Polnareff before this point.
Still none...
YES PLEASE
There are a few Chaos Mode events that could happen here, but none did this time. Sometimes it's a random roll in the moment and sometimes it's based on a random value generated at the start of the playthrough.
Obviously.
I get a little worried about the three turn limit here because Cascada's damage output was on a different level, but it turns out just fine.
This was already questionable when Quicksilver was a ranged arm cannon. Deep Purple is made of smoke.

This event removes the boss fight's normal 10-turn limit. However, if you picked "Can't Swim" earlier, that takes precedence. Also it's not like this was gonna last anywhere near 10 turns in the first place.

If you remember last time, we don't want to just immediately rush the orangutan.
Diavolo spotted.
Star Platinum: The World is truly busted and I'm glad it is.
This time I actually take a breath and observe the cycles rather than blundering through. Let's call it roleplaying, since the 7th is no longer bull-headed Cascada.
We took Polnareff here with Cascada, but that was still back when I was trying to keep FP balanced depending on how the polls went. This time, I don't particularly care as long as we break the True Ending thresholds by Cairo.
Okay now we can kill the orangutan.
Polnareff was actually a great choice because his high speed let him sweep all the adds every turn. I have substantially more trouble this time.
This shit right here. If Forever melts into the wall, you can't damage him, and he might just stay there for like five or six turns while the other ship parts regenerate indefinitely. It's annoying!
Finally.
Polnareff had a sword, so this probably went quick. How many Emerald Splashes does it take to kill a 400 pound orangutan?
Without any big shake-ups or Chaos events, this update ended up way smaller than usual. The next one should hopefully make up for it. See you again!
